Cheaper than Therapy

Teaching elementary school is hard. I've taught before, I know this. But I found out this year that teaching at a High Priority school is hard and stressful. So as a way of coping, I've adopted a new mantra:
"A good hobby is cheaper than therapy."

We've had 10 snow days so far this year, which have been great therapy days for me. Here are some of the therapeutic activities that I've been up to lately....

Over Christmas break, I found a piece of scrapbook paper with my mantra on it! It became this:

One of my new favorite recipes-- Blueberry muffins to die for

Brian Wright liked pretzels with sprinkes
His wife would eat them plain.
And so, betwixt the two of them,
No pretzels will remain!

My favorite project so far-- Ikea coffee table turned entry way bench!
BEFORE:AFTER:
I also made a magnet board for my craft table... I'll be posting that soon!

  3. I totally get where you are coming from! I recently have decided I needed a hobby so I didn't feel like I was doing school stuff every minute of every day and since then, life has been so much better!!

    LOVE all your creations!!

  4. I had the idea because our coffee table didn't really fit in front of our couch and looked lame near our front door. Then I searched for some blogs to see if anyone had pointers. Here are some that I used:

  5. oh, but I used a queen size 1 in foam mattress from walmart cut apart and in 4 layers ($9) instead of buying 4 inch foam ($69/yard at Joann).

  7. I'm so glad you posted those blogs for pointers on how to do this. I've been wanting to reupholster furniture but wasn't sure how to add a cushion to a non-cushioned surface. I'm so excited now!
